BLAIR: NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CREATING PALESTINE

The Jerusalem Post
February 05, 2007

Reports are starting to fly thick and fast about an imminent spurt in the Middle East "peace" process.

A few days ago, top diplomatic sources, including at least one close to EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, announced that "historic changes" are set to take place in a matter of weeks.

Now British Prime Minister Tony Blair is also anticipating movement real soon.

Speaking on the radio Sunday, Blair said, apparently referring to the Quarter, that "our obligation is to put forward a peace process that can work and try and take that forward.

"And over the next few weeks I think there will be some real movement there," he added.

Then, ominously, the Briton said that in order to make this progress it was necessary for "the international community as a whole to recognize that there is no more important issue for us to resolve than Israel/Palestine."
